Keeping Our Girls Safe – Housing Research Project
Part-time, One Year Term (Grid 13)
Pacific Community Resources Society is looking for a regular part-time experienced youth worker
to support young women’s involvement in a year-long provincial collaborative research project.
The successful candidate will have experience in working with high risk young women and girls
who may have experienced homelessness, sexual exploitation, addiction or domestic
violence. The candidate will have an understanding of the contributing factors to youth and
female homelessness; multi-generational poverty and experience and knowledge in working
respectfully with different Indigenous cultures. The successful candidate will be able to hold focus
groups, gather information and report back to youth on progress.
The successful candidate must be able to travel throughout the year for 1 week long periods to
Prince George, Kelowna/Kamloops, and Nanaimo.
. With the Project Lead, develop a youth advisory table;
. Bring ideas and support the research project;
. Hold focus groups with young women throughout the province;
. Empower young women to come together to have a voice in developing a tool kit and
housing model that will work for them;
. Create an opportunity for these young women throughout the province to stay
..Be able and willing to present our findings at a Provincial Conference.
. Based in Surrey
. Willing to travel and will be expected to work flexible hours including evenings.
Academic and Job Experience Required:
. BA in a related field plus 1 year related experience, or a Child and Youth Care Diploma
plus 2 years’ experience, or a combination of related work experience and education with
. Criminal Records Check including the vulnerable sector
. Current Standard First Aid Certificate
. Class 5 driver’s license preferred with Business Use Insurance and $3 Million Liability
. Use of own vehicle preferred. Paid mileage.
. Driver’s Abstract
. Experience with research projects
. Possess excellent time management skills; ability to balance multiple, often conflicting
. Ability to lead in order to achieve outcomes.
. Effective mentoring skills.

Salary Range: $1591.66 – $1811.67 Bi weekly with benefits
