 The Team Leader, Training & Trades Centre (TTC) position is responsible for the day-to-day operation/supervision of the Training & Trades Centre and 5 +/- person Team. Develops and implements internal administrative systems, policies and procedures. This position is accountable for all TTC budgets ($300,000 - $1,500,000); ensuring requirements are met, reports are completed to standards, budget accounts are balanced, etc. The incumbent is responsible for planning and completing the yearly program schedule based on funding and community interests; as well as for the efficient administration of all TTC programs. With approval liaises with high ranking officials such as business leaders, federal/provincial/regional and First Nations’ contacts, business stakeholders and other organizations to help achieve TTC goals and objectives. Provides information about programs, services and careers to identify target markets for the purpose of generating inquiries and applications. The uniqueness of the position requires the incumbent to work independently, under minimal supervision. She/he has exceptional time management, multi-tasking, customer service skills; while operating at a high level of people interaction and must be able to respond with courtesy, tact and diplomacy.

 Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

·   Assists the Manager, E and T, with Training & Trades Centre budgets.

·   Responsible for interim, quarterly, final/year end reports for funders and compiles statistical information regarding services, programs, student, resources, etc.

·   Delegates’ day to day administrative workflow.

· Supervises day-to-day activities of the Training & Trades Centre and administrative functions.

· Develops/delivers effective communications and maintains Training & Trades Centre marketing.

·   Works in partnership with divisions of the Education, Employment & Training department.

·   Supervises staff.

·  Supervises the Health and Safety of Employees and adheres to workplace health & safety policies, safe work practices and procedures.

·  Participates as a member of Training & Trades Centre and the Education, Employment & Training teams.


Education, Level of Experience & Hiring Requirements:

·      Diploma OR Certificate specializing in Career Counselling, Business, Communications, Marketing, Office Admin, or a relevant/related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.

·      Plus 3-5 years (with Diploma) OR 5-7 years (with Certificate) directly-related experience in the majority duties in job description including; staff supervision, administering programs, program coordination, training and development, student recruitment, etc.

·      As career progresses, incumbent will be required to successfully complete job-required, short-term upgrading, training and courses relating to program management, student recruitment, program promotion, employment counselling, budget management, etc.

·      Must have Leadership/Management Skills for Supervisors Certificate or be willing to obtain in a set timeframe.

·      Experience as an intermediate level user MS Office, the Internet, etc.

·      Working experience with a large scale computerized database system. Experience with JD Edwards is an asset.

·  Previous experience working in a First Nations Community (particularly Squamish) is preferred.

·      Must be willing to travel and work in our Squamish Valley office as needed.

·      Must have a valid OFA Level 2 Certification or willing to obtain within a set time frame.

·      Must have a valid BC Driver’s License Class 4 Unrestricted or willing to obtain within a set time frame.

·      Must have reliable vehicle/current auto insurance/valid BC Driver’s License Class 5. Class 7N may be considered.

·  Must successfully complete Criminal Records Check Vulnerable Sector Search as per Squamish Nation Policy.

·    Grade 12 plus 8-10 years relevant/related work experience may substitute for the above education/experience.
