If so, please consider this opportunity with the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation to provide policy analysis and strategic advice in a dynamic, team-oriented division.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• lead the conceptualization and development of policy options and recommendations
• lead the design and undertake research and analysis in support of policy and program development
• provide strategic and evidence-based advice on complex policy matters
• develop relationships and engage with Indigenous partners on policy development matters
• lead consultations with other ministries and other levels of government
• prepare sensitive and confidential materials (e.g. briefing materials, position papers, option papers) that support the ministry's business and decision-making processes

How do I qualify?

Policy leadership and coordination skills:

• You can lead policy initiatives through the policy development and approvals process.
• You have experience developing policy options based on research and analysis.
• You are able to evaluate proposed policies, recommendations and options to ensure they are feasible and align with the government and partner priorities.
• You have strong project management skills to concurrently manage multiple initiatives.

Knowledge of Indigenous peoples and relevant issues:

• You have knowledge of policy and program development principles and techniques to lead and/or participate in the development of provincial policies and programs related to Indigenous relations and reconciliation.
• You have an understanding of the factors and issues impacting and influencing Indigenous relations and reconciliation, including Aboriginal and treaty rights and inter-governmental relations.
• You have knowledge of the broad historical, social, economic, legal, and political issues underlying Indigenous policy development, including multi-jurisdictional issues, relationships, land/treaty negotiations and matters of economic development, health, and welfare.

Communication and relationship management skills:

• You have experience engaging with Indigenous partners and building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• You have consultation skills to build consensus across multiple partners and stakeholders.
• You have tact and diplomacy to lead the resolution of sensitive policy development issues.
• You have proven communication skills to proficiently deliver presentations to a variety of audiences.
• You have written communication and computer skills to prepare a variety of materials for senior decision makers (e.g. research reports, briefing notes, options papers, correspondence).

Research and analysis skills:

• You have experience applying quantitative and qualitative research techniques and methodologies.
• You have experience conducting environmental scans.
• You have experience identifying appropriate data sources.
• You have experience identifying strategic options, risks and potential impacts associated with proposed policies, programs and initiatives.

Salary Range: $70,538 - $103,944 per year
