Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Wages: $28.00 / hour

No. of Vacancies: 4

Employment Type:Permanent, Full time with 70 – 120 hours bi-weekly

Employment conditions:Early Morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Overtime

Start Date: As soon as possible

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

Languages: English

 

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience: Experience an asset

 

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Cellular phone

Security and Safety: Valid passport, Criminal record check, Drug test, Medical exam, Driver's validity licence check, Driving record check (abstract)

Transportation/Travel Information: Willing to travel cross-border, Willing to travel for extended periods, Willing to travel internationally, Valid driver's licence, Willing to travel overnight

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Attention to detail, Large workload, Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy loads, Overtime required, Physically demanding, Sitting

Personal Suitability: Effective interpersonal skills, Flexibility, Organized, Reliability, Judgement, Team player

Communication Systems Experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment, Citizens band (CB) radio, Trip recorder (on-board computer)

Documentation Knowledge: Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Driver logbook, Bill of lading, Accident or incident reports, Trans-border documentation, Trip reports, Maintenance and repair reports

Specific Skills

Perform preventive maintenance, Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, Perform brake adjustments, Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption, Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes, Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Receive and relay information to central dispatch, Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy, Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo

Type of Trucking and Equipment: Dry bulk, Tractor-trailer

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, Driver's License (Class 1 or A)
