Salary:                        $48.10 per hour

Hours:                        40 hours/Week

Work Setting:            Manufacturing  


Job Duties and Responsibilities: The Engineering Manager is responsible to perform the following duties and responsibilities:

·         Design, plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the activities and operations of an engineering department or team

·         Assign, co-ordinate and review the technical work of the department or project teams

·         Leading Design team activities for software, hardware, and mechanical development

·         Working with Product Management, Sales, and Customer Service teams to develop requirements specifications for product line expansion and enhancement

·         Support Customer Service, tech support, and field application engineering teams for project fulfillment and delivery

·         Work with certification bodies including UL, FCC, CSA for product functional validation and safety certification

·         Responsible to provide code and review samples for software developed and should have at least 10,000 lines of production deployed code in C or C++.  At least one project implementation should include any adaptation of the following building control protocols: BACnet; Modbus, LonWorks and Opto-22

  • Provide timely and appropriate feedback that focuses on those things that will make the biggest difference in performance; reinforces efforts and progress
  • Monitor and measure team progress against business plan and recommend changes as needed
  • Lead crossfunctional projects within area of responsibility



Qualification and Professional Skills requirement:



·         Successful candidate should have 5+ years on field controls experience commissioning and provisioning equipment and must have delivered projects in 5 of the following verticals;

§  Agricultural, Industrial, Aviation/Transportation, Office/Commercial and Residential/Hospitality

·         Must have proficiency and experience working and deploying any three of the following market leading systems such as Schneider/Andover, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Delta Controls or Distich Controls




·         A Bachelor’s Degree in engineering is usually required.

·         Extensive experience in an engineering discipline, including supervisor experience, is required.

·         We are happy to consider candidates with technical certification or diplomas in related programs with existing application portfolio for demonstration available.


Language Requirement


  • To support our Global Field Offices, the candidate must also be technically fluent in 2 of the following languages: English and French


Technical Knowledge and Skills Requirements


·         Solid understanding of embedded systems and RTOS;

·         Experience with embedded development and processors and DSPs;

·         Experience in developing kernels and device drivers;

·         Systems software expertise in developing modular software for embedded software applications;

·         C/C++ language expertise;

·         Experience designing software APIs, managing make files and build environment;

·         Demonstrates good communication skills, written and spoken and can present technical concepts to audiences of various technical abilities.

·         Experience in communication protocols, networking, and system design desired.

·         Advanced understanding of internetworking industry trends, including new products and solutions

·         Working knowledge of control systems is a plus.

·         Linux developments experience an asset.

·         Experience with C Programming, O/S Fundamentals, Device Drivers and Hardware and Communications Protocols especially Bacnet, Modbus, LonWorks, Opto22 is required

·         Mechanical Control Systems including VAV Boxes, Fan&Coil Controllers, Lighting Controls, Power Meters, Energy Meters

·         Sensors and Actuators including temperature, humidity, pressure, waterflow, gasflow, motors, actuators, VFDs

·         Establish collaborative relationships built on trust and commitment and develop relationships at multiple levels within customer accounts and business partners

Non-Technical Skills

·         Ability to interface with customers and Good inter-personal skills.

·         Ability to create software requirements from customer’s needs.

·         Experience working on a team, local and remote is a plus. 

·         Written software from the beginning to end is a plus.
