Reporting the President and CEO, the Director, National Services will lead, direct and manage all aspects of CESO National Services. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director, National Services will provide leadership advice and support across the organization; expertise in the Indigenous landscape in Canada; and act as a key driver towards building a larger, stronger and more diversified National Services program. The Director, National Services will strengthen the profile of CESO, in particular the services of our National program in Canada and work closely with International Services to maximize synergies. The Director, National Services must have excellent people management skills, business acumen and an exemplary work ethic. The Director, National Services will work closely with the President and CEO so that, together, the organization achieves its longer term strategy of sustainability and growth. This position could be located in either the Toronto or Montreal office.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs and manages National Services programs and staff
Accountable for program delivery and contract compliance of all National Services programs.
Build/strengthen relationships with existing and potential partners, clients, funders and donors, in order to promote, broaden support and/or improve existing contracts, programs and services.
Manages program budgets for National Services contracts to achieve maximum value and optimum cost effectiveness.
Ensure formal goals, objectives and work plans are developed for staff on an annual basis.
Provide coaching and development to National Services staff on an ongoing basis as well as semi-annual formal performance reviews.
New Business Development
Expand programs (revenue and market penetration) through the development of deeper and broader relationships with INAC, other government funders, indigenous organizations and indigenous governing institutions and others as appropriate.
In consultation with proposal development resources, initiate, direct and build funding proposals for all new and renewal agreements with partners/funders.
Operations and Compliance
Responsible for preparing quarterly reports, annual reports, ad hoc reports and work plans.
Work closely with the Director of Finance regarding budget planning, and in support of funder and corporate compliance requirements.
Champion and work closely with Operations, Recruitment, Monitoring & Evaluations, Finance and International Services to implement organizational improvement projects and drive sustainable organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
Lead, support and/or contribute to cross-organizational projects, programs or activities in support of the ‚One CESO‚ corporate philosophy, achieving client and customer service excellence, and supporting organizational efficiency.
Uphold, safeguard and promote the organization‚s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, integrity and corporate (social) responsibility.
Facilitate presentations to the Board of Directors on relevant matters and issues.
Maintain appropriate relationships with suppliers and partners.
Act as a liaison between the organization and clients for quality assurance.
Participate in expansion activities (proposal and partner development).
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
University degree or equivalent expertise in Indigenous studies.
Ten years in increasingly senior roles within the Indigenous Canadian context.
Demonstrated leadership skills, proven ability to build consensus, to strengthen relationships among disparate stakeholders, and to influence with/without formal authority.
Experience effectively managing budgets of varying sizes and complexities, as well as financial / governance reporting.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong presentation and project management skills.
Exceptional time-management, organization and prioritization skills.
Existing relationships with key Indigenous organizations, an asset.
Bilingual, French/English, an asset.
