About the Opportunity

Kina Gbezhgomi Child & Family Services is currently in the second phase of their recruitment drive and have multiple opportunities available for Child Wellbeing/Protection Workers to join their various teams based in the Manitoulin region of Ontario.

Full-time and part-time opportunities currently exist. Candidates must also be willing to work a rotating after-hours schedule, as required. 

Under the direction of the Service Supervisor, these roles are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of children in accordance with KGCFS policies, procedures, and Ministry Standards. Working collaboratively with all KGCFS resources, as well as biological/foster parents, extended family, and First Nation communities, you will ensure that children are protected and stay connected with their culture, language, and community while strengthening family and community relationships

To qualify, you will have an accredited college diploma in a related field of study. Preference will be given to candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, or related discipline. College Diplomas and University Degrees are both accepted and reflected in salary grid placement.

Most importantly, you must be knowledgeable, respectful, and sensitive to the Anishinaabe culture and be committed to helping First Nation families strengthen and achieve a healthy level of wellbeing.

About the Benefits

For your hard work and dedication to the role, you will receive a competitive annual salary to commensurate with your experience, skills, and qualifications, with annual salary increases. After Hour hourly on-call and stand-by rates premiums also apply. After Hour Worker position on-call rate is $31.19 per hour.

Given the traditional practices of the Anishinabek, from time to time exposure to wood smoke and the burning of sacred medicines, including tobacco, sweet grass, sage or cedar, may occur within the work setting.
